Education Beyond High School is Essential
Everyone is college material. And nearly every stable, recession-proof job requires education and training beyond high school. Since the last recession 11.5 million U.S. jobs went to workers with a post-secondary certificate or degree and only 80k jobs went to workers with a high school diploma or less.
Attending college and earning a certificate or degree after high school is more important than ever.
In Michigan, our independent colleges and universities award 20% of all of the bachelor’s degrees in the state. They are contributing 20% of the recession-proof workforce each year in the state and have the capacity to educate even more students as Michigan grows the number of workers with education beyond high school.
