Independent colleges invest $1 billion in past decade

Groundbreaking new community partnership models and investments are being made on the campuses of Michigan’s independent colleges and universities—some of which are truly extraordinary for the surrounding neighborhoods.

During the past decade independent, non-profit colleges and universities have invested over $1 billion directly into capital improvements on campus and in local communities.

These projects are all funded with private investment, so there is no cost to students, their families, or taxpayers.  What’s more, the facilities built are often used not only by the institution and its students, but also by residents in the local community. These projects are true partnerships benefiting students and local community residents alike.

$1 billion into Michigan communities. Michigan's independent colleges and universities not only provide a world-class education for students but also keep Michigan's communities strong.
