MI Achievement will double the number of students with grants and scholarships from the state

Once fully implemented, the groundbreaking Michigan Achievement Scholarship will double the number of college students in Michigan with need-based grant or scholarship dollars from the state.

In 2022 Governor Whitmer in collaboration with the Michigan Legislature passed the Michigan Achievement Scholarship. A need-based college grant for Michigan’s college students beginning in fall 2023.

The Michigan Achievement Scholarship is the most expansive college financial aid program in the state. It will dramatically increase access to an affordable college education for many and enhance our state’s labor force with more college-educated individuals.

Currently, 75,419 students receive need-based grants or scholarships from the State of Michigan, including students with ReConnect.

Once fully implemented, the Michigan Achievement Scholarship will increase that number to nearly 150,000, doubling the number of students with help from the state to achieve their college potential.
